OMAHA, Ne (FOX42KPTM)- You may have seen mailboxes around Omaha that have book donations in them. Now there is a similar concept for food donations.
A “Bountiful Box” is up and running at the Benson Community Garden at 1302 North 60th Street. The Bountiful Box is stocked with non-perishable foods donated by the garden members and “caretakers” from around the community.
Anyone can donate and anyone in need can take donations from the box.
The box is next to a neighborhood garden that anyone can pick fresh vegetables from for free.
Organizers hope to put up more boxes near community gardens in Omaha.
