BCG Member Spotlight: Jordan
Now in her second year at the garden, Jordan grows a vibrant cutting garden full of dahlias, zinnias, and other blooms — a cheerful welcome for anyone stepping into the space. She’s passionate about flowers, loves attracting pollinators, and enjoys connecting with fellow gardeners. Outside the garden, Jordan is studying to become a Pilates instructor and works in election technology. She’s also one of our amazing event planners — and a proud Taurus who believes earth signs are naturally in tune with the garden life!
- Q: What you like to grow?
“I enjoy growing flowers. Dahlias and zinnias are my favorite, and I like to try new plants, too. This year I planted some tubular blooms hoping to attract hummingbirds.” - Q: How many years have you been gardening?
A: “I started young with my family, but have gotten into community gardening as an adult. I’ve found it’s a great way to meet like-minded people.” - Q: A favorite gardening tip or lesson learned
A: “I applied mulch to my flowers this year, and it’s keeping my bed from going completely dry. I’ve learned that dahlias need to be kept well-hydrated to be happy.” - Q: A hobby or passion outside the garden?
A: “I’ve been studying pilates for the past year and have begun to teach this year as I work on my instructor certification. It has helped ease low back pain, and it’s a fun way to move and challenge myself.” - Q: Fun Fact:
A: “I visit botanic gardens on every work trip. The last two I saw in Austin & Philadelphia were spectacular.”
“Flowers & plants make me giddy and I enjoy watching things grow. Knowing that I facilitated it, but also that such wonderful things can even grow and exist! To nurture is to have knowledge! I’d like to know how many of our gardeners are earth signs (taurus / virgo / capricorn). I’m a taurus and believe the earth gang is in quite touch with the natural world.”
