We are deeply grateful for your willingness to support the Benson Community Garden. To help us manage donations responsibly and ensure they meet our current needs, please review the following:
- Please contact us before dropping off any items so we can confirm they are needed. You can reach us at bensongardens@gmail.com.
- For tax purposes, the valuation of any in-kind donation is the responsibility of the donor.
- In-kind donations must align with the activities, policies, mission, goals, and programs of the Benson Community Garden.
- Due to limited storage space and resources, we may not be able to accept every donation offered.
- Items accepted as in-kind donations become the property of the Benson Community Garden and may be used, repurposed, re-donated, or responsibly discarded as needed.
Thank you for understanding and for helping us steward the garden thoughtfully and sustainably.
Volunteer Opportunities
The Benson Community Garden thrives because neighbors step up in ways that fit their interests, skills, and schedules. Whether you enjoy hands-in-the-soil tasks or prefer organizing, coordinating, or connecting with people, there is a place for you here. We welcome volunteers for both one-time help and ongoing roles.
Some of the ways you can get involved include pulling weeds in the common areas, spreading wood chips between plot rows, turning the compost pile each week, or helping clean and organize the tool shed. If you’re an early riser or evening walker, you might enjoy opening or closing the garden gates at sunrise or sunset. For those who enjoy community engagement, outreach at neighborhood events, assisting with donation coordination, or helping us communicate with supporters can make a tremendous impact.
No role is too small. Every task contributes to a safer, more organized, and more welcoming space for everyone who grows food here. If there’s a way you’d like to help that isn’t listed, let us know. We’re always open to new ideas and new energy.
