BCG Member Spotlight:
Aidan & Jacob
If you’ve spent any time in the garden lately, chances are you’ve seen Aidan and Jacob — two familiar faces who are often tending to their thriving patch of tomatoes, okra, and pole beans. Now in their second season at the Benson Community Garden, they’ve become much-loved members of our little green community.
Both were introduced to gardening at a young age, growing up around family gardens and carrying that tradition into adulthood. When not gardening outdoors, they also enjoy their houseplants to keep their thumbs green.
Outside of gardening, Aidan enjoys running and reading, while Jacob loves cooking and baking — a perfect combo for homegrown produce! Together, they share a love for travel and proudly call themselves “official foodies.”
Their favorite part of the community garden? “Seeing what other gardeners are growing and meeting people with a shared interest.” Their advice for new gardeners is simple and wise: “Watering and weeding are essential. Try not to grew more than you can care for. ”
And if Omaha’s climate cooperated? They’d be growing lemons and limes.
